Day Thrity One - Cosmic Lollipop II

Wow!!  One whole month of making art every single day!!!  That is pretty darned cool, if you ask me!  I have to pat myself on the back a little for my follow-through.  The Daily Devotions group is a wonderful inspiration and I know other people are getting just as much out of this project as I am.  If you haven't already, check out some of the other Daily Devotions blogs and see all the incredible artwork people are creating!

Today I had quite a bit of downtime at work.  The kids were doing an art project in one class and I snagged some colored pencils and did this sketch - more happy circles.  I think I'll make it into a quilt.

 

Day Thirty - Work Doodles

First day on the job today.  I did manage to find a little time to doodle in my sketchbook though.  I'm grooving on botanical imagery right now. I like the seed podish things and leaves.  I'm determined to keep up with my daily art!

Day Twenty Nine - Cosmic Lollipop

I just couldn't seem to get settled on anything today.  I stopped and started several different things and finally whipped out this quick and cheerful fiber ATC.  My hubby says the circles make him happy.

 

Day Twenty Eight - Octopus

I did this sketch with colored pencils while watching "Red Eye" last night.  I got this amazing coffee table book called "Archipelago" from the library yesterday that has these gorgeous pictures of marine life, birds and plants in Hawaii.  I've been planning an octopus quilt for a while now so this is sort of a preliminary study.

 

Day Twenty Seven - Portal

Today I made another little hinged laminate sample book.  I like the way this one turned out with the double windows but it was a bitch to photograph!

 

Somehow the theme of these little books has evolved into a commentary about stereotypes and assumptions about the roles of women.  Wasn't a conscious thing on my part.  Just happened.  But I am finding it interesting.

Day Twenty Six - The Trickster

I got some gorgeous Nepalese paper samples in my Artella magazine that came in the mail today.  The new issue is really gorgeous and has lots of fun stuff included.  The paper just begged to be made into a collage so I combined them with a picture of my tattoo printed on mulberry paper and a transparency transfer of a copy of an ATC I made that included my raven tattoo.

   

Day Twenty Five - Bloom

Today I made a fiber postcard.  Look familiar?

I told you one of those drawings I did yesterday would make a cool quilt.

Day Twenty Two - Vessel #1

I had a nice long day all to myself today so I spent many hours in the studio creating this fiber vessel.  I really like it and I plan on making more.  It is made from Timtex which is a heavy duty interfacing a friend once referred to as "Viagra for fabric", my hand dyed and rusted fabrics, copper mesh, fibers and beads.  It stands about 12 inches high.  My hubby says it looks like a Cirque du Soleil hat.
