I cannot believe school starts next week!! I always think I am going to get so much accomplished during vacation but I never actually do. Too much nothing to indulge in. Plus, I have children. They take up an inordinate amount of time.
OK, honestly, I just lack discipline. I suck at time management. And I spend WAAAAAAAAY too much time in front of the computer. Although, not blogging apparently....Oh well.
We did manage to schedule a camping trip to Lost Lake with the family. It was the girls first time camping and all in all a successful trip. Three hours in the car was a bit much for me and the campground was really crowded but the lake was pristine and gorgeous. They don't allow any motorized vehicles on the lake and the water was clear and beautiful. It seemed like a mellower crowd of people without the motorboats and skidoos.
My mother-in-law's boyfriend set up fishing poles for everyone - another first for the kids! And within 15 minutes, Maddy had caught the first fish! She was SO excited but did not want to touch it. We eventually ended up with enough trout to feed everyone. Mmmmm! Nothing like fresh caught fish cooked over a campfire.
I've become fascinated with felt lately. I'm trying to build up stock for Halloween and Christmas items (sorry to mention the "C" word already!). I've made a bunch of felt pentacles in different color combinations that I am going to make into ornaments. Last night I got the brilliant idea to stuff one with some of the dried lavender from our garden and it smells heavenly!
I also made some fun felt patches/pins.
I love all the bright colors of felt and how easy it is to work with. It reminds me of crayons and construction paper. Endless possibilities. The girls have been making really cute critters and things, too.
OK, enough time sitting around in the basement in front of this computer! I am going to go outside and enjoy the end of summer before it starts raining again.
