EarthPath Artisans Autumn Challenge on Etsy

Look at all the totally amazing stuff made by the very talented artisans of the EarthPath team!  Just search for "autumneast" on Etsy to see everyone's wonderful entries.  I'm glad I don't have to do the judging!  Etsy will judge the challenge tomorrow and pick a winner. We have such a diverse group and everyone is really awesome and kind, too.  I'm so glad I found such a supportive team!

Fall is Here!

I'm not really so sure I'm all that thrilled about the arrival of Fall.  I like the leaves turning colors and being able to wear real clothes again but I'm not very fond of driving to work on dark foggy mornings and the seemingly endless grey blur outside.  I love Halloween and carving pumpkins, apple cider and fires in the woodstove.  I'm not crazy about it getting dark before dinner time and having soggy feet.

One thing I am excited about it my street team's Autmumn Challenge!  EarthPath Artisans is a team of people who walk similar alternative spiritual paths, focusing our beliefs in the world of Nature. Our team membership encompasses different Goddess-based traditions, as well as Taoism, Buddhism and similar paths. Our shops are as diverse as our membership. We are not limited to selling only items representing our spiritual path, but also create to make your everyday world a better and more interesting place.  They are also an amazingly talented group of people!

Just a few examples above: Celtic Goddess Jewelry's amazing headdress,Battlemaiden's fabulous illustraion, and Inkyspider's gorgeous pillowcases.  Check out some of the other amazing entries for the challenge at our Flickr site.

I made two more of the magic pop-up card cases.  I contacted the woman who adapted the ribbon sling idea to make sure she would be okay with my selling the cases and she was so very gracious and sweet.  I love it when people are happy to share their ideas with the world and encourage creativity.  Here's the new ones:

OK, I must go decide what to make for dinner.  Mind you, I'm only eating dinner so I can justify having a banana split.

Who Filled My Head with Cement?

I am home sick with a miserable head cold.  I haven't been able to breathe out of my left nostril for two days even after I downed two Benadryl last night.  Ugh.  I have become a mucous making factory.  Being sick sucks.

Despite having to wipe my nose every 2.3 seconds last night, I did manage to get some new Moo Card holders created and posted to my Etsy shop.  I can whip them up pretty fast and it's fun seeing how they look in different color combinations.

Some silly people who have not yet ordered Moo cards have requested holders for regular sized business cards so I think I'll make some more of those, too.  I want to get some hardware to make them with detachable cords so you could wear them like a necklace.

We just finished watching the BBC miniseries Jekyll which was totally faboo!  It's a modern take on Dr, Jekyll and Mr. Hyde that was written by Stephen Moffat who wrote both of our favorite Dr. Who episodes. The dialogue is brilliant.  It's funny and dark and the actor that plays Jekyll/Hyde is amazing.  I think we might have to buy the DVDs.  I highly recommend it.

My friend, Bonnie, loaned me a great book called Stumbling on Happiness that I really enjoyed.  The author's basic premise is that human beings are the only animals that think about the future but that we are incredibly bad at predicting what will make us happy.  He talked a lot about how we base our predictions and decisions on our past experiences.  The problem being that our memories of past events are totally colored by our present feelings.  We believe that we felt then the way that we feel now.  One more good reason to stay focused on the present moment and let go of trying to control everything.

OK, cement head = braindead.  Must go lie down now.
